So sorry!

I know I promised the rest of my report about Cincinnati, but it's still not finished, and I've been too busy to sit down and work on it.  Hopefully tomorrow or the next day I'll find some time.

I did pick up the September GQ, though, for the article about Marat.  LOVED it.  I actually learned some things about him that I had known, and got a little inspired to write him into a fic by something he's quoted as saying.  My favorite part had to be when the makeup artist said, "I guess we're done...he just walked away."  I saw him do that to a photographer during a shoot in Cincinnati last year.  Just before Marat disappeared, we overheard the photographer quietly saying to his assistant, "I don't know if that's going to work...because of his...you know...attitude."  (I got some very good photos of Marat sulking around, sitting in the corner on his phone, watching the other boys practicing on the next court.  He looked so cute, like a little boy who just wanted to go out and play.)  They were still discussing it when Marat suddenly picked up his bags and walked off without saying a word to anyone.

I guess they got what they wanted, though, because one of the photos that did get taken ended up being blown up huge and displayed in the merchandise tent this year.  I WANTED that poster.

And Marat himself, of course.
